Highly variable. : Most patients with macular degeneration have the dry type and suffer mild decrease in vision. However, macular degeneration is likely to cause significant vision loss if wet. If diagnosed and treated in early stages, most cases will have fair prognosis, even if wet. However, some cases may cause immediate loss of vision by a hemorrhage, while others may take years to progress to blindness.
