It depends: Teenage boys on average need 1,800 to 2,600 calories a day if they're 11 to 13 years of age, but it's best to discuss this with your pediatrician or a nutritionist. They can advise more specifically a proper diet for your son based on his height, weight, BMI, growth velocity, etc.
