Smoking: Within literally minutes of not smoking your lungs improve. You might well have a cough for a while, this should be of no concern. Over several months you will feel much better, breathe much better , have much more stamina. That said you don't say how long /smoking. If cough persists or shortness of breath persists you need to be evaluated. 10 years of not smoking =never smoke. Congrats.
