Yes: When you have latent tb, you can take medications--usually Isoniazid (inh) for 9 months--to eliminate the bacteria and prevent active tb. However, not everyone with latent TB is supposed to be treated. Indications depend on your age, underlying conditions, whether the infection is recent or remote, size of the skin test reaction, etc. Talk to your doctor.
