It can be: It is common for a woman to spot for 2-8 weeks when a Mirena (levonorgestrel) iud is first placed. I would expect your bleeding to be light or spotting. When a woman is spotting daily she may only know she's actually having a period because the bleeding gets heavier for several days. If my patients are still having daily spotting after 8 weeks i like to see them in the office.
