It can: The vaginal opening changes in size to accommodate intercourse and in response to childbirth. After menopause--especially in the absence of intercourse and hormones-- it can get smaller again. Sometimes this causes painful intercourse when resumed. The problem can be treated with vaginal estrogen and dilators. Best wishes!
