2 distributions: If the l-5 root is compressed or irritated in the lower back, referred pain can occur, but this could also be due to more peripheral pathology afflicting the peroneal nerve.

Tibialis Anterior: The anterior tibial nerve innervates the front of the shin and the top of the foot, it bifurcates from the tibial nerve forming posterior and anterior portions, the anterior portions exits through the proximal foramen in the fascia between the tiba and fibula, below the knee.
