Not unusual: Bleeding is common for 4weeks following a delivery, but occasionally my patients note persistent bleeding at their 6week exam. The overall length of flow varies, but as long as the trend is to lighter flow, i would not be concerned. There may be some times when the flow increases, but this usually abates within a few hours. Such episodes are common in the first couple of weeks following delivery.
