Can herpes simplex type 2 affect fertility in women and in men?

Unlikely: The main extragenital complications of gential herpes simplex infection include hsv meningitis and proctitits. I don't know of any occurrences of hsv orchitis in men or involvement of the seminal vesicles, bulbourethrals, or prostate, which may affect male fertility. Similarly, female fertility is unlikely to be affected by hsv alone. The main concern is vertical transmission during pregnancy.
