Variable: There can be more complicated problems but most often this involves a ph imbalance in the vagina which can lead to bacterial vaginosis. Normal vaginal ph is 4-4.5 and menstrual blood has a ph of 7.4. Bacterial overgrowth can occur with this imbalance and cause irritation ; itching. See your doctor for treatment.
