Depends on severity: Depends on size, extent of invasion and tooth destruction, location on the tooth, and the choice of restorative material. Dentist will anesthetize tooth, remove the infected tooth material, and place a restoration. Dentists do this all day long every day and are quite skilled at the procedure.
