A member asked:

Really bad cramps (never get cramps) 10 days before expected period, its been about 7 days since i ovulated, what's this from, could i be pregnant?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Possibly: After ovulation the follicle cyst becomes a corpus luteum. For 12-14 days it continues to make estrogen and Progesterone to support the uterine lining. If there is a pregnancy the hormone HCG stimulates that cyst to keep making the hormone. That stimulation may cause a cramping sensation. Sometimes there is some hemorrhage into the corpus luteum without pregnancy that can cause the same feeling.
