Possibly: After ovulation the follicle cyst becomes a corpus luteum. For 12-14 days it continues to make estrogen and Progesterone to support the uterine lining. If there is a pregnancy the hormone HCG stimulates that cyst to keep making the hormone. That stimulation may cause a cramping sensation. Sometimes there is some hemorrhage into the corpus luteum without pregnancy that can cause the same feeling.
