Rest and Ice: It all depends on the source of the pain. Knee pain can be tricky to diagnose because there are different sources. Whether it is due to torn cartiladge or just a plain strain of the ligament. That is why a proper examination is reccomended to determine the source of the pain. Simple pain coming from jogging could be due to over-use. In that specific case, rest and icing will suffice.

Jogging knee pain: Knee pain with jogging can be be caused by patellofemoral pain when undersurface of knee cap rubs against femoral head, especially if both knees have pain. Other causes include, tendinitis, injury to meniscus or cartilage, arthritis, etc.. It is best to have it checked out before coninuing to jog.
