SLE affects lungs : The inflammatory sle process often affects the lungs and surrounding tissue. Lupus can scar the lungs making them stiffer causing shortness of breath with panting respirations, fatigue and a chronic dry cough. It can also inflame the pleura and chest wall causing chest pain. Treatment of sle lung usually involves corticosteroids or anti-inflammatory agents such as methotrexate.
