A member asked:

I have yellow spots on the back of my throat no sore throat.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Benign: Cryptic tonsillitis vs mucocele. Small, white/yellow nasty tasting and smelling flecks of debris can collect in pits or 'crypts' in the tonsils. These may be removed with a water pick, q-tip, etc. I rarely remove tonsils for people exasperated with these. A mucocele or mucus retention cyst is a little pocket of mucus trapped in a gland in the surface of the tonsil. These require no treatment.
