See doctor: Irregular menses can be a symptom of polycystic ovarian syndrome (pcos). A normal menstruating woman will release an egg 12 times in a year. Egg is fertile for 12-24 hours. A woman with pcos doesn't release an egg each month, making it more difficult for her to get pregnant.
