Chemical allergy: Blood cells in your body can become reactive to chemicals that are placed on your skin. You may be able to find a product that does not contain the chemical to which you are allergic.

Fish scales?: The shininess from lip preparation is often from the fish scale used and there is some suspicion that people allergic to fish may have a problem with that. However I have yet seen any proof or a patient with this problem. You can also be allergic to one or more ingredients in the lip gloss. If a different prep also causes similar problem, check with an allergist or dermatologist
