No: Lupron (leuprolide) will help prevent recurrence while you are on it. However, Lupron (leuprolide) is usually used short term and it may recur after you stop it. Drugs such as birth control pills can be used long term and so may be more helpful. Still, going on hormones after surgery is not absolutely necessary.
