Can be normal: Brown discharge is old blood, nothing to worry about. The fact that you had brown blood instead of a period can be normal for a woman on birth control. Sometimes when women don't bleed it's because there's nothing (uterine lining) to bleed from, nothing to shed. Are you on a low dose? Estrogen causes lining to build up, Progesterone to slough off.
