Yes: Sometime when women think they have implantation bleeding, it is just breakthrough bleeding and nothing to do with a pregnancy. It is possible for a pregnancy to implant, cause bleeding then to lose the pregnancy when the period is due, or even to have bleeding and then carry the pregnancy. Without a documented pregnancy test, it is impossible to confirm this.

Breakthrough bleed?: Implantation is when the conceptus (from union of egg & sperm) attach to the wall of the uterus. Bleeding most often dose not occur with implantation. If there is bleeding the amount is small. It may be small rust or brown colored drops or light pink swirled in white d/C. It usually occurs about ten days after ovulation. There is more blood w period. Take a HPT if you miss your period.

Bleeding: You can have implantation bleeding then have pregnancy related bleeding or even a menstrual miscarriage. It could also be what you thought was implantation was breakthrough bleeding. Either way, you need a pregnancy test to confirm what is going on.
