Ovary makes progest: After ovulation the follicle where the egg grew in the ovary is called a corpus luteum. It makes Progesterone to help with implantation and maintaining the pregnancy. With conception HCG from the pregnancy stimulates the ovary to keep making Progesterone which can sometimes cause a sensation of cramping.
