Bed bugs: Bed bugs are small, oval non-flying insects that belong to the insect family cimicidae. Adult bed bugs reach 5 mm-7 mm in length, while nymphs (juveniles) are as small as 1.5 mm. Bed bugs have flat bodies and may be mistaken for ticks or small cockroaches. Bed bugs feed by sucking blood from humans or animals. Adult bed bugs are reddish brown after feeding.

Variable: Classically, we pathologists look for little blisters in a rows. If we see them, we mention "cimex infestation", since that's their scientific name. Or the bites may be little tiny red splotches. Or one can be bitten without marks. There's nothing much to suggest that these annoying pests can actually make you sick, which is good.
