Salad is a a fiber: And fiber helps constipation, provided your are drinking enough fluids and minimizing caffeine and alcohol which dehydrate and worsen constipation. If you are severely constipated i would stay on a liquid diet only until the constipation is resolved using mild laxatives such as milk of magnesia (magnesium hydroxide).
