Fractured sternum 2 was ago was wondering why is it painful to lay on my back but not so much on my side?

Tension: When you lay on your back, as opposed to your side, you are putting tension on the sternum and probably irritating the fracture. If you are a back sleeper, you may need to sleep in more of a reclined position. Thanks.
