Low flow to brain...: The most common cause of fainting when rising to a standing position is decreased blood flow to the brain. This can result from either low blood pressure to begin with, or other conditions that cause the flow to the brain to decrease. This syndrome is relatively common. It can be helped by ensuring adequate salt and fluid intake. If that does not help, a tilt table test is indicated.
