If no period occurs: If no regular normal menstrual period occurs when one is expected, then one can check a urine pregnancy test. Done correctly, the test gives a reliable result 3 weeks after sex or 1 week after missing a period. If a regular normal period occurs, that means a woman is not pregnant at that time (so no test is needed at that time).
