Urges: Several medications can assist in curbing the urges, depending on underlying pathology, whether physiologial or psychological, but most effective tx is cognitive behavioral therapy thru an experienced psychologist working with eating disorders.

Most importantly, don't assume you can just "handle this" on your own. It's a potentially dangerous behavior that most find quite difficult to control, once started. Seek professional help.

Yes: Binge eating involves consuming a large amount of food in a discrete period of time. What you can do is to limit youself to purchasing only single portions of foods at a time so as to limit the availability of these foods. Also eating with others and engaging in activities that remove you from food especially when hungry so as to avoid the urge to binge.
