Ovulation: Ovulation is the reason for your periods. Ovulation is the readying of a new egg to be available for impregnation. The period is the result of the egg not getting impregnated and thus cleaning out the uterus to prepare for the next cycle. These two milestones in your monthly fertility cycle do not happen at the same time.
