Rarely: Sometimes pain is a presentation of ectopic pregnancy, but most common presentation of ectopic pregnancy is pain with bleeding. If you have high risk for ectopic, you would want a scan possibly before 11/19? You can determine pregnancy is intrauterine at around HCG of 2000. Do you know the results of your HCG from today?

Not enough info: Sometimes, if a pregnancy is very early, it will not be seen by ultrasound. Your doctor will order a follow up ultrasound if there is concern for an ectopic or to make sure the embryo is developing as it should.
