What could be some other causes for itchy skin other than dry skin?

Allergy,infection: Causes include scabies, a mite infection, a reaction to a medication, a reaction to laundry detergent, fabric softener, new clothing. In addition it could be sign of eczema where rash is not yet apparent. If significant and not improved with otc cream see dermatologist or primary care physician.

Fungus: Any dermatitis for that matter can cause itching. A sunburn can cause itching, any response that will cause inflammation can cause itching.
