A member asked:

I had prolonged periods..low iron. should i try to stop all periods for a while? healthier than taking iron?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe: The first step is to find out why the periods are prolonged by a gyn md who may not only recommend iron rx but if there is pelvic pathology causing the prolonged periods suggest methods to resolve the problem rather than a "stopgap" measure such as period cessation.
