Be checked: There are multiple potential causes and i would encourage him to be checked. Numbness is a neurological symptom. The three most common causes are a pinched nerve in the neck( cervical radiculopathy), a pinched nerve in the wrist(carpal tunnel syndrome), or a neuropathy, which is more a systemic condition involving the nerves. A detailed exam and a nerve conduction test can often tell the cause.
