A member asked:

I developed a serious endophthalmitis in late 2012 and have subsequently lost all vision in the eye is painful. what can i expect with enucleation?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pain relief: I'm sorry to hear about your unfortunate outcome. With enucleation or eviseration surgery, the eye or it's contents are removed to eliminate the sources of pain and help you recover. A customized prosthetic is fashioned for a "look-a-like" replica of your other eye and placed in your eye socket, so as to restore an acceptable cosmetic balance between the eyes. After few months u should feel better.
