Probabely normal: Spotting in between periods can be normal.It may be during ovulation some times and others for no reason at all.Most of the time it is at start of the periods.Clear colorless mucous discharge is nothing to be concerned about, it is due to secretions produced by glands in cervix and vagina.

spotting: A single episode of spotting probably has very little significance. Now on the other hand if you spot between periods frequently i would suggest you see your doctor.
