Clean it with: Hydrogen peroxide 2 %, dress it with clean gauze ( you can get it from any pharmacy) , change it every day for couple of days and then when it is clean and healing leave it open . Avoid wetness in the area . If it is getting more problematic or if you develop more symptoms like ever , swelling , lymph node swelling, see your doc.

Depends on variables: Many will see the area heal over 7-10 days after the boil has drained. If it re-accumulates and or is more than a half inch in size it may need to be opened and "cored".The physician will sometimes to place a cotton tipped applicator in the abscess and scrape it along the outside walls to remove the outside envelope. This prevents an abscess from just filling back up and draining repeatedly.
