A member asked:

Is luvox a true ssri? it is known to hit signa -1 receptors as other don't...would it be more of a zyprexa (olanzapine) type med. are its interactions exaggerated?

SSRI: It's an ssri. I believe sigma receptors are more related to Dopamine so that would not apply. As for interactions, it's hard to say they are exaggerated. They are what they are. It affects the cytochrome system in the liver and that leads to interactions. The list is well documented.

Different drugs: Luvox is an selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor that is used primarily in the treatment of Obsessive compulsive disorders. Zyprexa is an atypical antipsychotic medication. They are two VERY DIFFERENT medications. Drug interactions lists/ %'s are compiled based on the medication's track record.
