Some are foolish: No need to use an abrasive product in a sensitive area. Toothpaste says what it is intended for... Tooth paste. You don't use shampoo to clean your teeth, and neither do you use chlorox as one other poster asked. Other than trying to save money by using one product for multiple purposes, i can't think of a reason you would want to do that.

Stop: Can cause irritation. Product designed to help clean teeth (should only use pea-sized portion on your toothbrush), and can cause damage if used off-label. Think of it this way, would you use douche as a mouthwash?
