Epiglottis ; gagging: Hello. Manipulating you base of tongue, uvula, tonsils or epiglottis will probably cause gagging. There is a rich supply of sensory receptors in this region that helps our body sense the pathway of food. If it feels altered, gagging will occur which protects our airway.
