Can having scarlatina as a child have residual effects as an adult?

Unlikely to happen: Scarlatina is a simple rash produced by some strains of group a strep. By itself, it is irritating and will sometimes peal like a sunburn. As long as the underlying strep infection is treated within a week to 9 days of rash emergence, no long term effects (rheumatic fever) would be expected. If untreated, the risk of rheumatic fever is the same as that of strep without the rash.
