Orthopedic surgeon: Scoliosis, an s-curving of the back, is usually first seen by pediatricians. They will refer such a patient if there is a problem to an orthopedic surgeon for evaluation and correction. An adult with scoliosis probably would go straight to an orthopedic surgeon.
