Sadly, yes: The biggest side effect of Progesterone birth control shot is bleeding. That's one of the main reasons women stop using the shot. Sometimes it's bad in the beginning, and then gets better as time goes on. You can also see your doctor about possibility of taking low dose birth control on top of shot.... This can help stabilize endometrium. Good luck!

Depo and menses: The Depo-Provera shot makes the lining thin and is a hormone injection that lasts up to 3 months. The heavy bleeding now is related to shedding all the lining there now and should stop soon. If you aren't having any other symptoms, you shouldn't worry. However, i would monitor your cycles and tell your doctor if it persists.
