Yes but ---: This sounds in part like a bit of miscommunication between gmom and the mother (is this a mother in law issue?). The mother should be in charge of the care unless she agrees to allow you to take the child in. There is some dysfunction at the personal level here and you want to avoid making it worse. What does the father say?
