I did a little : Reading to try to answer this question. Newer plasters reportedly don't contain asbestos or toxic chemicals. When plaster is sanded it become fine particles which may be breathed in ; irritate the airways. I am not an expert on this - but as a general policy i would try to avoid unnecessary chemical contacts when pregnant.
