Not recommended: Irritating laxatives (Ex-Lax, for example) aren't recommended in pregnancy because they can cause uterine contractions. What is generally recommended are stool softeners such as Docusate Sodium and Milk of Magnesia (magnesium hydroxide). Best wishes!
