does pro active really work for acne. my 8 year old has acne and blackheads. usin zapzyt now after everything else failed. dermatologist or pro active?

Proactive does work: it doesn't work for everyone but it does work for some people but if all of the over the counter stuff doesn't seem to be helping.  go see your pcp, they can give you some creams/gels to use that might be able to help her.  you can also try bentonite clay w/raw apple cider vinegar, I have heard that works pretty good too.  good luck

are  zapz orthotics for the shoes effective?

They're ok: Zapz orthotics are off the shelf insoles that can be heated and molded when stepped on. The problem is this molds them in an unstable position when you stand. I feel that this is non better than other otc insoles such as powersteps, spenco, or superfeet.

my son was told he had mild hyperthyroidism. he has a couple symptons, zappy feelings at times of stress. any comment please;)?

Needs Evaluation: Generally needs pediatric endocrinology exam or qualified pediatrician.May need medication.And certainly followup.

ive been sick with nasal congestion and chest congestion for weeks. then i got diarrhea. now extremely thirsty with dry mouth. now im extremely dizzy. when i stand my legs get weak and my brain almost feels zappy. and my taking benadryl.

Drink fluids : Some of your symptoms may be related to dehydration. A flu like illness may linger for a few weeks. Avoid Benadryl unless recommended by your physician. Rest, hydrate and monitor your temperature. Please follow up with your physician or urgent care.

Slow down: You are probably trying to discontinue too quickly. Make sure you are slowly tapering off the medication, rather than just stopping altogether. Talk a half-dose for a week, the a quarter-dose for a week, then stop.

Likely side effect : Headaches and head pressure are common experiences with that class of medications. Most of those using this type of med in my practice have found the side effects go away within a few days but it's not to be ignored. Call your prescribing doctor and describe the symptoms as well as any noticed changes in mood and anxiety thus far.  Reach out today!

i'm on elavil (amitriptyline) 25 yrs.150 mg. for depression & anxiety-xanax on & off could i switch to ssri. i'd need ssri w/ sedative effect like elavil (amitriptyline) - recommend?

Trazadone: Trazadone is an antidepressant, but not an ssri, and not with the terrible side effect profiles of the ssri's.  Trazadone has sedative effects.  Ask your doctor about this medication.

No: You will not die from Cymbalta (duloxetine) withdrawal, but you'll make yourself very uncomfortable.  Please discuss with your doctor.
