how do they remove gall blader stones?

Whole GB removed: When done laparoscopic, the gallbladder is taken out with a small basket after cutting across the base,  with a goal of keeping all of the stones in the bag.

Personal decision: Yes you can have laparoscopic surgery to remove your gallbladder ; gallstones if you want. Unless there are medical reasons that requires you to ihave surgery, such as abnormal blood liver tests or history of gallstone pancreatitis, it is your decision with your surgeon to make that decision. You are young ; have already had 3 painful attacks ; you do have risks of future gallstone attacks as well.

No: The stone may remove the corn but you risk ripping it off leaving an open wound that can easily get infected causing more problems.

Accepted Answer

By fragmenting stone: Ureteroscopes are small flexible tubes fitted with a camera, and passed up the ureter to the stone. A laser fiber can be positioned through the tube, and laser energy is used to break the stone up into fragments. Larger fragments can be extracted using small stone basket passed through the scope. The remaining sand like particles with pass on their own, or with the aid of a ureteral stent.

No: Studies have been done to try to 'dissolve'gallstones. Limited success seen can be seen with certain small stones while on the medication, but the stones recur off the medicine. No long term success naturally.

Yes.with few stones.: When the surgeon plans for it, it means gb is relatively easily removable and stones are not too much loading the gb so that the gb can be pulled through the laporoscopic port ( small openings, in the skin at sites near gb area) easily. Sometimes they start as laporoscopic, but after viewing the gb area and if they suspect the gb may more diseased than expected it is converted to open lap.Surgey.

Yes: They can develop in the bile duct which connects the liver to the small intestine.

Accepted Answer

Avoid pumice: Insure you use fresh, sharp blades vice dull blades. If hair is &gt; several mm long – then trim before shaving. Wash area before shaving – warm water helps to soften hair. Use a lubricant when shaving. Avoid using products that contain alcohol or are scented.  Shave in direction of the hair – not against it. Be gentle when shaving – don’t push down too hard. Moisturize skin after shaving.

: There are various possibilities including nothing, it may predispose to urinary tract infection; or you may want to go back to the information sheet and explanation given you by the urologist. I hope you know the type of stone you had so you could adjust your nutrition to reduce chances of future re occurence of kidney stones.

Short answer is NO: Certain stones, depending on their characteristics such as size and composition can be dissolved with medication.  But it takes a long time and the med can be toxic to liver.  Then the gallbladder will re-form the stone after it is dissolved.  If you are an acceptable surgical candidate and have symptoms, you should have a cholecystectomy before complications arise.
