You could: Euflexa and other injections like it, it suppose to relief pain by helping to repiar of the cartilage in the knee it a while to work, and the damage to the cartlage is advance it will do anythings.

Cortison shot: Hi, the immediate effect is from Lidociane used at the same time as Steroid injection, that usually wears off in couple of hours and the steroid starts taking affect in 3-5 days and can last for months.

Your: Knee should not hyperextend.  See your doctor. Or orthopedic surgeon.  Could be weak quad/hamstring muscles.  Or it could be something more.  See a specialist.  The shots would work with inflammation.   But not the problem

Ortho: Maybe.  Is the knee swollen red or warm to touch?  Regardless i would go back to doctor and be checked.
