hi would the antibiotic trimethoprim give a false negative result on a std/ uti urine test if taken in close proximity of testing ? specifically bacterial infection? i have had burning irritation on the tip of the penis but every test is clear?

Yes: If an antibiotic is taken before submitting the urine specimen, the urine culture is likely to show no growth (false negative) and urinalysis in general have a high rate of false positives and false negatives.

i was on sulfamethoxazole (bactrim) for a uti. i took all of the meds. then waited 9 days and took an std/sti test. it was negative. could it have been a false negative due to the antibiotics?

: If you had gonorrhea or chlamydia, the Bactrim might have cured the infection. In that case, the negative test was a true negative, not false:  that is, you were not infected when tested. There is no test that can detect past gonorrhea or chlamydia after cure. No other STIs are affected one way or the other by Bactrim. (If you are at risk for STI, you should have been tested before UTi treatment.)

hi i have been having burning sensation on my penis/ meatus formonths and have come back neg for std and uti. is it possible trimethoprim antibiotics are causing a false negative result for bacterial std/uti ? as i finished 2 weeks before my last tes?

: The symptoms you describe are not typical for any STD. Trimethoprim is not active against most STDs and probably had no effect on your test results. Australia's federally funded sexual health centres are the world's best network of expert STD/HIV clinics. If you remain concerned, you won't go wrong with advice from your nearest SHC. Good luck.

Low urine SG: If they do a culture maybe or if you are using dipstick.  Discuss with your Dr.

Not aware of: Lupus is not expected to interfere with pregnancy test.

Dysuria: You did not have a UTI . Therefore no antibiotics were prescribed. There are other causes for dysuria and if uou are still having problems see a urologist.

Very unlikely: A UTI does not change your HCG levels.

Unlikley: If the test is done correctly, it would not give a false negative result in UTI. If you have any doubt, get a blood test for HCG level.
