Many reasons: There are many reasons why your stool can be runny. Medications and supplements that you are taking can be one. Your diet too can highly influence the consistency of your stool; if you are taking too much fiber or prunes. Less common causes would be infection and certain medical conditions which your doctor can check for.

it shouldn't have other problems like fever/pain and should be able to keep up with fluids otherwise will need care.

Diarrhea: Chronic diarrhea should be evaluated as to cause especially infection. It's common after bowel resection and gall bladder surgery. Antibiotics can actually lead to bacterial overgrowth & thus diarrhea which is treated w/yet another antibiotic. But only way to figure all this out is to go see your doctor. Also need to monitor hydration & fluid balance so you're not dehydrated.

About baby poops: Babies older than a week should have yellowish poops with the thickness of mustard or thick spaghetti sauce.  Breastfeeding babies can have even looser poops.  Formula-fed babies have firmer poops, but poop that holds shape would be too firm for the first 3-4 months of life.  Poop gets darker, with brown/green colors blended in, and also gets firmer, as a baby gets older.

Yellow stool: The amount, color, frequency of stool varies with foods, speed of emptying of the GI tract, medications & supplements ingested, gut flora (unique for each individual), additives (like blood), subtractions (like absent bile), infection, inflammation, & other factors. If stool pattern has changed, is unusual for you, & the change persists, or is accompanied by other symptoms, see your doctor.

Greasy vs. mucusy?: Are you seeing oily stools with floating oil droplets (which implies fat maldigestion from use of dietary fat blockers, pancreatic and/or biliary disease, small bowel malabsorption, or excessive dietary fat intake) vs mucusy stool (due to a range of conditions from inflammatory, infectious, ischemic, or "functional" due to rectal dysfunction, colon delay, or irritable bowel syndrome)?  Need tests.

Stool color: When intestinal contents have more rapid transit through the intestinal tract, feces become loose and may have tan color rather than normal form and brown color. The older feces had time to pigment, but the looser portion didn't. If yellow loose stool persists with  or without diarrhea, bile tract or pancreatic disorders or malabsorption should be considered.

Sounds Normal: Kid's poop can get harder as you switch  to solids (pureed).  Try adding some pureed prunes or apples. Also make sure he is taking in adequate fluids daily.
