Sometimes: But not always. Some kinds of food poisonings are heat resistant so it would not matter.  Good thought though !

Potentially: as some people have GI upset on  SSRI's. But I would not assume that is the reason. Take care.

Yes: Patients with viral gastroenteritis can continue to shed virus in their stool for 10-21 days after onset of illness. Frequent hand washing with soap(NOT hand sanitizers) by the patient and household contacts can reduce transmission. All surfaces in contact with stool or vomitus should be wiped with diluted household bleach. Care givers should use disposable gloves(and masks if possible).

Most likely: Any viral diarrheal illness can potentially make your ulcerative colitis flare up, fir which you can expect a longer recovery.

Likely 1-2 weeks.: These illnesses usually have an incubation period of 3-6 days, are symptomatic for 3-4 days, and resolve by 1 week.

Varies: The oral secretions of a patient are not considered contagious after the fever has disappeared. The virus can be shed in the stool for another 4-6 wks.

No: People with viral infections are generally contagious even before significant symptoms appear. The duration other illnesses is obviously going to vary based on what virus is infecting them and therefore it's going to be different the length that they're going to be contagious.  So I can't really give you specifics unfortunately.

: If one is nauseous, then zofran can help. If there is no nausea or vomiting, then there is no reason to take zofran. But overall, it does not worsen the underlying illness or cause it to last longer.

Flu?: may last 5-7 days.  Stay hydrated and treat the diarrhea.  Supportive care is key.  See a doctor if worsening or persistent symptoms

Yes: Rotavirus group a is the leading cause of viral gastroenteritis worldwide. It causes a dehydrating diarrhea in infants and young children. More than a half-million infants and young children worldwide die of rotavirus gastroenteritis each year (parashar et al, 2009). Fatalities from viral gastroenteritis are more likely to occur in those at the extremes of age or the immunocompromised.
